Concept Cars
Motor shows are held for the purpose of show casing the latest developments in the motor vehicle industry. Important information such as consumer changing trends and demands and better ways of conserving the environment and better fuel consumption by motor vehicles is usually a key focus at motor shows. Almost all countries hold motor shows on an annual basis. 2-17th October is when Paris, the French capital, held its motor show.
A number of creative and innovative concept cars premiered at the motor show. Many of the concept cars, which premiered at the motor show, were sports cars. Overall, the concepts left audience in anticipation waiting for their production.
1. Lotus Esprit
The car’s demure appearance, elicits its attribution to a pretty woman. The Lotus Esprit operating on a V8 engine with a 5.0litre capacity is the car to watch out for in 2013. The two seater car operates on a horsepower of 620. The car comes with a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS), which recovers then stores the energy released during braking and provides it when the driver requires a boost. Aluminum is used to build the body panels as opposed to glass fibers, which are used on the panels of other Lotus predecessors. The car is estimated to go at a price of about 175,000 dollars.

2. Lamborghini Sesto Elemento
The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, meaning the sixth element, also premiered at the Paris motor show. Described as super sports car with an edgy and intense aggressive appearance, it is light in weight at 2,202 pounds. It runs on a V-10 engine at a Horsepower of 570. The name is derived from carbon, which is largely used in the car’s built, which is the sixth element in the periodic table. Carbon-fiber, which is light in weight, is used to build the panels on the exterior, front frame and the roof, door and floor of the interior. The car will be produced in a limited number of between 5 and 10 vehicles and it will go at a whooping price of 2.5 million Euros.

3. Jaguar C-X75
The curvy Jaguar C-X75 is an exquisite two seater car that premiered at the Paris motor show. The name is attributed to the 75th anniversary of jaguar and the model being an experimental concept. The 2,970 pound car runs on a combined horsepower of 780. It is an electric super car with the ability to cover 62 miles from ignition in 3.4 seconds. Two Micro gas turbines, running at horsepower 96, send gas to the car’s Li on battery, which in turn power four electric motors, running at horsepower 195. The electric motors are placed on each wheel. The highest speed the car can reach is placed at 205mph.The car is built with fuel conservation in mind. The concept designs the car to have the ability of moving under electric power only. At the moment, the car is just a concept and there is no word on whether it will go into production.

4. Renault Dezir
France’s own concept for the Renault Dezir also premiered at the 2010 Paris motors how. Running on horsepower 150 it is capable of going from 0 to 60 miles in less than 5 seconds. The sensuous futuristic car has a bright red color in line with the car’s theme, which is passion. The two seater car can accommodate 21 inch wheels. The color white is used predominantly in the interior with streaks of the exterior’s bright red. The car has rising butterfly doors. Notably electrons are used to power the car. Whether the car will go into production is still unknown.

5. Audi Quattro
Described as having an aggressive appearance, the Audi quattro runs on a 408 horsepower provided by a turbocharged engine comprising of five cylinders to ensure high performance. The body is built to be light in weight, in line with most sports cars, weighing 159 kilograms. The car boasts the ability to go up to 62.14mph in 3.9 seconds.

Whether the concept was inspired by the company’s celebration of their anniversary, passion or pure innovation, the concept cars show cased at the 2010 Paris motor show were insightful in how far the automobile industry has come. Conservation and cutting fuel consumption were the key features, which cut across all the concepts. All motor vehicle lovers wait with bated breath for the cars, which have gone into production to hit the markets.
