The hallmark feature of the car is that it has the next generation of BMW 2.0 liter petrol engine with BMW Twin TurboPower technology. This is the first time that such technology has been used in a car which will provide substantial power upgrade to the vehicle. Like all the other BMW models this vehicle will also have the six cylinder engine with all aluminum crankcase. It will also feature high precision direct petrol injection with innovative solenoid injectors. The car will have Valvetronic which is the BMW-patented variable valve control system.

BMW has also added Performance Control System to the car for keeping the car more agile when high performance is needed from it. This new car from BMW can hit the top speed of 240 kmph (149 mph) under any climatic conditions. To make the car more environment friendly BMW has also worked on the CO2 emission reduction and the car gives out less amount of CO2 which has been recorded as 183 grams per kilometer.
