Honda is a premier automobile and motorcycle manufacturer in the world and has a very large presence in the United States of America. It has nine plants in the United States and employs nearly 25,000 people in its world class plants thereby substantially contributing to the American economy. It purchases parts and materials from over 530 suppliers in US and thus also generates indirect employment through its suppliers. The domestic procurement from the United States accounts for more than $12 billion. This is in addition to its $12.7 billion investment in US operations. Apart from directly and indirectly contributing to the American economy, Honda also makes active contribution in various forms to the American civil society. This can be evident from the fact that Honda has been the official vehicle of the National Hockey Leagues (NHL) for the past three years. In addition to sponsoring NHL, Honda also plays a very active and motivating role in various community initiatives of the league.
