The year 2010 has come and gone but for Chevrolet and General Motors it was one of the most memorable as they sold 4.26 million vehicles across 130 different countries worldwide. This means that Chevrolet sold one car every 7.4 seconds which is going to be a historic number in the history of Chevrolet. In the year 2010, Chevrolet’s vehicle industry sales across the globe went up by 0.35 points and as a brand Chevrolet accounted for 5.8% of all vehicles sold worldwide in 2010. Among the top five global automotive brands only Chevrolet was able to expand its total market share in the year 2010.
Although, Chevrolet had a strong sales record in the year 2010, it was only in the fourth quarter that Chevrolet sales zoom up to something that they had never imagined. In the last quarter of the year 2010 Chevrolet went on to sell 1.14 million vehicles across the globe. In the month of October there were 361,236 Chevrolet cars like crossovers and trucks sold worldwide which was an increase of 16% on annual basis. The month of November saw an improvement in the sales figures of Chevrolet as they sold 368,103 vehicles which led to the increase of 27% making it one of the best sales figures for Chevrolet. However, it was the month of December that was the most memorable for Chevrolet as they sold a whopping 416,826 cars globally making it the best December in the history of Chevrolet. It was also the 15th consecutive month for increase in sales of Chevrolet.
Joel Ewanick, Chief Marketing Officer of General Motors said that Chevrolet’s dedication to compelling designs, quality and great value is the winning formula for them and that they will always listen to their customers to deliver the best and to bring them into the Chevrolet family. There were also some strong sales figures displayed in various international countries like Brazil, Russia, China and India. These international countries were responsible for the 33% increase in brand sales which provided Chevrolet with an increase of 2% compare to the sales figures in the year 2009.
