Nissan has already been celebrating with the success of their Nissan LEAF but Nissan Motor Manufacturing has one more reason to celebrate. The Nissan Sunderland Plant has proved that they are the number one car producer in the UK by manufacturing 423,262 units in just one single year. The Nissan Sunderland plant is one of the best auto manufacturing plants in the UK and they have exported 81% of the cars that they have manufactured. According to the figures provided by Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) Nissan Sunderland plant has manufactured one in every three passenger cars produced in the United Kingdom in the year 2010.

Nissan’s Sunderland plant has always remained as one of the biggest car manufacturing plant since 1998 but their previous record was at 386,555 units in the year 2008. They did plan to cover that up in 2009 but because of global financial crisis they were not able to surpass that record and they were only able to manufacture 338,150 units in 2009. However, they made it possible in 2010 where they beat their own record by 45,707 units.

One of the main reasons for this high production rate is that Nissan Sunderland plant manufactures Nissan Qashqai which has a lot of demand and in May 2010 the annual sales of this car went up. By August 2010 Nissan Sunderland plant had already manufactured 44,622 Nissan Jukes and 54,580 Nissan Micras. However, the Nissan Micra production later moved on to India but that did not hamper the overall production rate of Nissan Sunderland plant.
