Nissan Leaf

Nissan Leaf has already been receiving a lot of buzz for being the European Car of the Year 2011, but now Nissan Leaf users will have one more plus point that they can check their car battery status and range directly through their computer or cell phones.

This dedicated telematics solution will be provided by Telenor Connexions that will be available in all Nissan Leaf cars to make it easier for the consumers to know the exact range of their car battery even when the car is switched off.

There is no doubt that Nissan Leaf is the first mass production 100% electric car and that is has already received a lot of accolades from car experts around the world. However, Nissan is trying to make this car much more appealing to the consumers by providing them better options that would keep them interested in this car. Hence, they have decided to go with Telenor Connexions which would make the car more intelligent.

Telenor’s intelligent transport system will merge the data between electric car’s sophisticated onboard transmission unit to Nissan’s CARWINGS Data Center. Telenor will use the same data from the data center and provide it seamlessly to all the consumers on their mobile phones and their computers.

This is certainly for the first time that Nissan or any other car manufacturer will go for such technology where drivers can keep information about their cars on their cell phone. Owners can check the information about the status of their car battery and range.

They can even check other information like usage history and also air conditioning remote control. This data system is really better and convenient for all the car owners because the information will keep them updated about the status of their car and they can know the information before they even drive the car.

Loing, Vice President of Product Strategy and Planning at Nissan International SA said that the Telenor Connexion will really help Nissan to make their product more stable and secure because of the on and off board information that the car owners will have. Per Simonsen, CEO of Telenor Connexion said that they are really excited to work with Nissan who is playing a major role in providing electric vehicles.

They believe that this will be a long term partnership and that they will provide the best technology to the Nissan car owners as they have been providing to other vehicle manufacturers like Volvo, Scania and Daimler.
