Kia is a Korean company that has been around since 1944. The company began producing bicycle parts, and steel tubing. The name Kia is actually of Chinese descent and means “To arise and come out of Asia”. Sometime in the 1950’s Kia succeeded in making the very first bicycle ever, in Korea. Soon they began manufacturing motor scooters and motor cycles. By the time the 1970’s came, Kia had already begun planning and development for automobiles.

Some time in the 1990’s Kia experienced financial difficulties and as a result had to merger with Korea’s other large automobile manufacturer, Hyundai. Since the merger, Kia sales have increased and they have become quite popular, especially among people who want a hint of luxury in a small package that delivers good gas mileage, and reliable road use. In fact Kia has become one of the most popular economy cars of today. They have a variety of different vehicles including SUVs, sedans, hatchbacks, and still of course, motor cycles.

Kia has even joined the effort to conserve energy and “go green” with the introduction of the new 2011 Kia Optima Hybrid. This car operates at about 40 miles per gallon which is quite impressive, and can be purchased for about 25k. The overall gas savings a lone will offset the price of this super gas saving car.

Kia has always prided itself on catering to those on a tight budget by producing less expensive cars that most people, in most income brackets can afford. There are hundreds of Kia dealerships across the country that sell new, as well as used Kia cars. To find a Kia dealership in your area you might want to search for kia new cars.

There are also a number of Kia cars listed in local newspapers as well as online listings such as crauglist, and even e-bay. The price is pretty reasonable on most Kia models and it is believed that the fuel they save is quite significant, not just in the hybrid models but in all of them. If you want to check out a Kia and see how they drive, you might consider going to a dealership and asking to test drive one. Chances are you will not only love the way the Kia looks but you will fall in love with the way it drives as well. Kia may be an economy car but it has come a long way in relation to specs and added features, making it a great car to own.
