Hybrid Cars Vs Gas Cars

The automobile industry of the world has witnessed a dynamic change of late with various companies coming up with new models virtually every day. The real competition in the last few years has been between hybrid and gas vehicles as both of them give buyers the ultimate driving pleasure. But the question as to whether you should opt for hybrid vehicle or gas vehicle depends on your priority. Here we are presenting the pros and cons of hybrid and gas vehicles which will help to decide which vehicle you should opt for.

Hybrid Cars

It is said that Hybrid vehicles are vehicles for the future. Hybrid cars are cars which uses two or more sources of power for driving itself. There are wide ranges of hybrid vehicles around the world which derives it power from different sources such as liquid nitrogen, solar power etc. Hybrid cars come with the traditional gasoline engine and are also equipped with electric motors and batteries. Undoubtedly, Hybrid technology is environment friendly, but wait, do not be in a rush. Let’s see the advantages and the disadvantages which Hybrid vehicles offer you.

Pros of Hybrid Cars

  • Better Mileage: With gasoline becoming expensive day by day, the idea of hybrid car deriving its power from battery sounds great. Hybrid cars also come with a mechanism whereby power lost during braking is stored in batteries for future use. This gives hybrid cars better mileage.
  • Robust performance: Since hybrid cars use two sources of power, they offer better performance than gas vehicles. You can use the internal combustible engine during slow driving and the electrical system when you need to accelerate.
  • Less pollution: Hybrid vehicles are less polluting as compared to their gasoline counterparts with low emission level. Green houses gas such as Carbon dioxide is emitted in lesser quantity in hybrid vehicles and therefore driving a hybrid vehicle protects the environment from the harmful effects of green house gases. If you drive a hybrid car then you are not pinched by the increasing fuel prices.

Cons of Hybrid Cars

There are some disadvantages of hybrid cars too. Some of the major disadvantages of hybrid vehicles are

  • Low resale value: The resale value of hybrid cars are low as the batteries of the car need to be replaced once in a decade. This affects the resale value of the car to a great extent.
  • Cost expensive: Hybrid cars are comparatively expensive then gas cars and therefore you need to invest huge bucks initially to purchase one. Since, the batteries cost high, hybrid cars are expensive.
  • Risk of electrocution: Another disadvantage of hybrid cars is the fact that they are very dangerous during accidents. Since the batteries of hybrid cars store high voltage in them, there are high chances of electrocution during accident. At the same time, it becomes risky for rescuers to save passengers involved in hybrid car accidents.

Natural Gas Cars

With depleting natural resources, natural gas has emerged as one of the most effective resource for locomotion of vehicle. The natural gas vehicles are also known CNG vehicles and with environment concern all round the globe, these vehicles are gaining much demand among a large section of consumers.

Gas Car Advantages

Low maintenance cost: It is much easier to maintain a gas car as compared to a hybrid car.

  • Tax incentives: There are various tax incentives offered by governments all round the world on gas vehicles, which reduces their cost to a great extent.
  • High compression ratio: In most of the gas cars, the fuel gets almost completely burnt which leaves a very few by products, thereby benefitting the environment.

Cons of Gas Cars

Apart from offering several advantages, gas cars has some disadvantages too. Some of the disadvantages are

  • Availability of gas stations: Scarce availability of gas stations is one of the major disadvantages of buyers of gas cars. You have to travel long distance before you get to the nearest gas station.
  • Slow speed:  Gas vehicles are not known for high speed. Because of low horse power of gas vehicles, the speed slows down to a great extent.
  • Low efficiency: Because of low volumetric efficiency, the performance of gas vehicles is reduced considerably.

Both hybrid and gas cars have their own pros and cons and as said earlier buying of the cars depends on your priority. At the same time, geographical and road condition of any place also plays an important role in deciding as to what car suits you the best.
