In fact, 22 of the 94 apprentices were the first ones to complete “The Honda Challenge”, which is basically a structured curriculum which is done simultaneously with the apprenticeship programme. It aims to prepare them for life in society and business. The course deals with the history and philosophy of Honda, the essence of dealing with customers, as well as first aid skills, responsible road use, and awareness of personal finances.

There were also Special Awards given out, to graduates in each of the four categories – Lawn and Garden, Motorcycle and ATV, Parts and Cars. John Couldridge walked away with the “Outstanding Apprentice of the Year”; he had in fact beaten off competition from many other technicians from the UK to win the 2009 Skillauto Award.
