Joe LoCicero was awarded a brand new 2012 Accord by American Honda after he crossed the one million mile mark in his 1990 model. He was taken completely by surprise by the celebratory parade that was one-block-long and interrupted the event at a press conference in Saco, Maine on 23 October. It included a giant odometer float besides marching bands from local schools and stilt walkers from theatre. An airplane too flew above with a congratulatory banner. Joe was given the new set of keys for his Accord.
Joe is known to drive an average of 63,000 miles a year. At around300, 000 miles, he started keeping his detailed records. Honda fans too have been following his expedition as he neared the one million mile mark. He is believed to have taken more than 600 pictures of his odometer.
The million mile journey only reinforces the reliability and reputation of Honda’s for building dependable and rock-solid cars. Rated the UK’s most dependable and trustworthy car maker, for a record sixth year in a row, it also sits pretty at number two position in the 2011 JD Power Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Study. Accord comfortably tops the list of category for family cars.
