Honda has always been in the news for the kind of vehicles that they developed no matter wherever they are. This time Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd has come up with new plans to expand their motorcycle production capacity in India. Honda has announced that HMSI, Honda’s wholly-owned motorcycle production and sales subsidiary in India will expand its production capacity by going for second motorcycle production plant which is currently under construction. Honda also announced that they are planning to build the third motorcycle production plant that will help them meet the growing demand of motorcycles in India.

Honda further elaborate on their plans about the second production plant and mentioned that this plant will be built in the Tapukara Industrial Area of Rajasthan which is less than 100 kilometers from Delhi. They also announced that the plant will be operational from July 2011 and will have annual production capacity of 0.6 million units. It was further announced that the HMSI is currently working to double the production capacity of this plant to 1.2 million units per year to meet the growing demands and they will try to double it by March 2012.

During the announcement it was said that the second motorcycle production plant will have the same refined technologies and that will help HMSI to improve process ergonomics and to add more advanced automation. This will help them to reduce the burden on the associates working in the second motorcycle production plant. Honda also announced that they have tried to keep the plant clean and environmentally friendly. Hence, the plant will have less energy consumption level during production and it will also have new technologies like water recycling that will allow them to cut down environmental problems that normally arise because of their production process.

Honda said that they have realized that India is the world’s second largest motorcycle market after China and therefore they want to stay in this market. They announced that their third production plant will be operational by first half of 2013 and will have annual production capacity of 1.2 million units. HMSI also revealed that in the last ten years their sales have grown over 40% which is certainly a good thing for them. Honda also revealed that their next motorcycle production plant will be built in Bangalore which would cover the southern part of India allowing them to capture both northern and southern India effectively.
