1957 Ferrari Blew Away the Auction by Fetching $12.1m

250 Testa Rossa has set a world record for vehicles sold in some auction. The model served to blow away the competition by fetching an awesome $12.1m in an event at Maranello, Italy.

The vehicle was one of those 22 Testa Rossas that were produced from 1957 to 1959 and its Scaglietti design was really something that made a mark with its nice looking pontoon fenders. They also proved quite successful racers by winning 10 out of 19 races from 1958 to 1961.

0714TR was the chassis of the car that was sold on this Sunday and it was at fourth place in a 1000km race at Buenos Aires and it was also its debut in this competition. An American collector purchased it later on and put it on the race in SCCA events.

Maserati North America’s CEO Steps Down

Marti Eulberg the CEO of North American Masertati has resigned from the post even in less than a year.

She held the company’s president title as well and while talking about the move, she told that the move was taken by her in pursue of some other opportunities. Raffaele Fusilli, the global commercial director of Maserati will replace Eulberg on the interim basis.

James Selwa was the CEO of the company before Eulberg. Selwa occupied the office for three years and left the office in February 08 when his contract got expired.

Jaguar offers glimpses of the redesigned XJ model

The release date of XJ redesigned model is drawing near and Jaguar seems to ignite the things by showing some new car overhead view. Well, one can easily notice panoramic roof glass of the new car in this teaser shot and nothing else worthwhile.

The coming XJ is expected to have a clear cut look in this summer and it uses aluminum chassis of the current XJ’s redesigned version. But coupe like styling has been picked from the XF sedan. The XF’s family look can be seen in the unique design and detailing of it.

Today’s standard structure is quite obvious in the XJ, but when it comes to most of its hardware under the skin, it has been greatly refurbished. For instance, there are new braces to back up subframes of the rear and front.

Restyled 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee At New York Auto Show

The redesigned model has come with remarkable alterations both internally and externally, looks and functionality.

This 2011jeep has got Quadra-Lift air suspension and a Select-Terrain drive train system. It includes 5 settings including 11.1 inches of ground headway for tough off road expeditions.

Internally modified items include larger doors, front and back. The interior has been improved in the quality of seat coverings, and extended rear seater leg room; 4inch added. Space has also been added up to 6.8 cubic feet of the cargo area.

The wheel base is widened by 5.3 inches. Reduced noise treats the ears due to increased body welds and structural adhesives. Torsion has also been toughened up to 146% and new independent suspension system has also been introduced for the front and back.

GM to Start Testing Chevy Volt Prototypes This Summer

GM is undergoing a huge corporate restructuring this year, but despite all that it has been announced that the company will start testing of its electric Chevy Volt this year.  This electric Chevrolet Volt is being considered quite important to determine GM’s future.

In a Teleconference on Thursday, GM discussed its community outreach efforts and to settle lines with electric utilities for developing sound ecosystem of the auto industry by making electric vehicles a real attraction for a considerable number of consumers.

The mass production of the Volt to be started in November next year in the United States and it would be introduced in Canada in 2011.  Nearly 80 prototypes are expected to be prepared for testing by the end of this summer.
