Honda’s Mean Mower, averaging 116.57mph (187.60km/h,) officially broke the Guinness World title for the top speed lawnmower. The success was approved by a Guinness World Records Adjudicator at the IDIADA Proving Ground on Saturday 8th March 2014. A 100 meter speed trap was used to measure the speed and was overseen by the Timing Solutions Limited, the official timers. The mower was required to record, in both directions, the same run within an hour to have the success. Additionally it had to look like a lawnmower and cut grass and it successfully did both. Honda made every effort to retain the look of the original mower. To reduce weight, the cutter deck was custom-made in fiber-glass, while, the grass bag offers a happy home for a high capacity oil cooler, the fuel tank and a secondary water cooling radiator.
