Chevrolet has been making some of the finest cars in the market and they recently decided to launch their new 2013 Chevrolet Corvette 427 at the Barrett Jackson Scottsdale Collector Car Auction that happened on Saturday. Chevrolet has now announced that their new 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible Collector’s Edition has been sold for $600,000 at the auction. The all new car that Chevrolet is really proud of has a combination of features from Z06 and ZR1 models. Along with the car the Vehicle Identification Number ending with 001 was also sold at the auction.

Chevrolet has named the car as 427 because of the 426 cubic inch 7.0L LS7 engine that is at the heart of this car. This car engine was taken from Chevrolet Z06 and it has the capacity to produce 505 horsepower and 470 lb feet of torque. As per the information provided by Chevrolet this is the most powerful engine that they have installed in a production convertible car. The all new car combines the best engine with 6 speed manual transmission for superior performance.

Earlier the 427 powered Corvettes were produced from 1966 to 1969 but after that Chevrolet never really went ahead with the production. Now, Chevrolet and Hendrick Motorsports have teamed up at the auction to raise some money for the AARP’s Drive to End Hunger food relief program. The Drive to End Hunger will call some of the best racing organizations and racing fans to raise some money and spread awareness about Americans who face threat of hunger and have serious food shortage problems.
